Since 2011, I have been documenting various field excavations in Illinois. It started as something I did for myself and shared the images with colleagues for use in presentations and site reporting. Now it’s part of my job description.

I enjoy street photography – specifically the work of Vivian Maier and Garry Winogrand. When I get to take photos at excavations, I approach the task the same as when I’m taking street photographs.
